“I own a NETGEAR 66 nighthawk. Recently my modem had to be replaced and my ISP sold me a SMART/RG 360. The new unit is slower. I was told to disconnect the NETGEAR 66 nighthawk. Can I plug NETGEAR into empty port of RG for better efficiency? Will it work?”

I believe that this would probably be a waste of money. Unless you have a network attached storage device and want to stream 4K movies over WiFi, this router would be overkill. The device you are using (according to google) is a dsl modem with wireless n. It is most likely that the connection between your ISP and your modem are far slower than the speed from your modem to the connected devices. However, if you would like faster speeds to transfer files on the internal network, this router would probably work. Should you use the two devices together, be sure to set one device only as the DHCP server and turn off the WiFi radios in the smart rg360. It is best not to have too many WiFi radios on in close proximity.
