“We have a large house (4400 sq ft) - three stories - if I put this device in a central location will I be able to pick up the signal from anywhere in the house? Also, we have Xfinity internet - does the device come by default with the correct firmware?”

Depends on the material of your walls and how thick/far apart they are. You may need more of a mesh system for a house that large.
