• Yes - we replaced a modem we had bought a few years ago for exactly the same purpose and so far so good. It was a bit of a challenge to set up but we got it done.

• I have Xfinity 1 GB Internet service and am using this modem/router. It works fine for me, and the activation process was pretty painless. As with anything Comcast, though, your mileage may vary.

• Don't know about Xfinity, but this modem is screaming fast on my Sparklight 1gb plan. You shouldn't have many issues.

• It doesn’t for me. Xfinity was here and it will get to 950 and that’s it. The only reason I bought it was because it was advertised to handle 1 gig. I’m so disappointed I can’t even. Just look at it going on and off.
