That's correct. Buy it, set it up (make sure it works for your Xfinity service, phone included), and return the Xfinity Modem/Router, which is junk. Remember to check and update your Netgear modem from time to time as Xfinity will do updates which may hamper your new modem's abilities. This is A. for system improvements, B. so they can get you back to rent theirs. Just keep it updated and it should give you a few great years of fast internet speeds you are actually paying for.
