This does not increase internet speed. Speed is dictated by your provider. That said, your router can decrease speed if its old, not configured properly, or has to many things connected to it. Think of the router as the box everything comes into before going out on the internet pipe provided by your ISP. The box in question is an extender, that will only be as fast as your router or internet speed (whichever is slower). The good news is that this thing is a power house and will most likely handle anything you throw at it... As for your second question. its not a question if this extender will work with the provider but rather will it work with your router.
