• You will need a modem for whatever service you're using and then the router connect after it does not have a built-in modem.

• Yes, you need either a modem or a direct connection from your ISP. I have only the cable from my ISP, but I assume their modem is outside at the cable box. Ask your service provider.

• Yes, this is only a router. You would still have to buy a modem or rent from your provider.

• Yes this is only a router not two in one, how ever since i made the change to get a modern and router my internet speeds have been sky rocket i have comcast 150mbps and with this i pull about 180mbps
