This is just a router, so it wouldn't impact the speeds that your modem or service provider will output. If you have a very old router, upgrading just the router may give you a small performance boost and may increase the coverage of your wifi, but, ultimately, your speeds may be bottlenecking before it even gets to your modem due to the speeds available through your DSL provider.

Basically, there is no router out there that will "add" to the speed that comes in to your home. At least its range is excellent and the dual-band feature may help your situation.
