You will still need a cable modem to use the router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well your best bet is buying a dedictaed modem and dedicated router. Works best! I picked up a NightHawk AC1900 router and a CM600 modem. Works liek a charm!!! Though I dont have a big house like yours. I get consistent good speeds across 1500 sq foot house. I feel it would be better that a wifi extender. I have tried those but not that great. I like this better than the smart wifi mesh n/ws. But, you can try that since you have a big place to cover.... something like Orbi or Google Wifi.
