I don’t believe they would play nice together because the new router itself will want to be set up as a new network. However, if you get just the RBS50 aka AC3000 satellite, it is compatible with that system as it is a satellite only and not a router.

My original orbi router was not working properly so I bought this one. I replaced the old router with the new one and used the new satellite with my old satellite. I do not believe the router can be used as a satellite. I would contact Orbi. You may be able to buy just on satellite to match your system.
