It should work with your telephony modem, because I have both a modem for my house phone, and a separate modem for my DSL and it works with both modems connected without any issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m not sure regarding your modem. I have my Orbi connected to the back of my Comcast XFinity cable/phone modem for best results.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, Orbi will be your router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can continue to use your Time Warner Arris modem with telephony, but you will have to take some extra steps to manually reconfigure the Orbi to work on the same subnet as the modem and put it in bridge, or Access Point mode. Here are the steps I took, which assumes that the modem has an address of 192.168.0.1 (Orbi defaults to 192.168.1.1, which means it will not connect to the modem without reconfiguration). It is critical that you reconfigure the Orbi address scheme first before putting it in Access Point mode. If Orbi and it's satellite do show up on 192.168.0.x network, then step 3. 1- Go thru setup, and once complete, connect via web browser (PC or MAC) via Wifi to 192.168.1.1 ...or via browser at orbilogin.com 2- In Internet setup, change router address to 192.168.0.2, and IP range to 192.168.0.3-200. APPLY 3- IN Setup menu, go to ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Router/AP Mode. . Select AP Mode. . Change default IP address in same screen to “192.168.0.2” before hitting apply (even though it is not recommended). . Hit Apply 4- Disconnect from WIFI and connect via Ethernet cable. Wait about 3-to-5 minutes. 5- Login in to "192.168.0.2" … may take a few minutes for the screen to actually appear for some reason. 6- If the Orbi satellite still appears as 192.168.1.x, then power it off, wait 30 seconds, power back on and wait 5 minutes as it resyncs with Router. It should now show up on the 192.168.0 subnet. 7- Upgrade firmware as needed, using manual method. Download from Netgear website. Unzip files and upload xxx"S".img to satellite first using Orbi web interface. Once satellite has completed, repeat for router using xxx"R".img unzipped file. 8- Log in to your Arris modem and disable wifi, since Orbi is now providing it and you don't want two independent wifi networks. After the above, your modem will remain in full DHCP/NAT mode on 192.168.0.1, while Orbi is providing wifi to your home on 192.168.0.2. This worked for me, and with the above changes you are not affecting your Arris modem setup at all other than turning off it's wifi.
