Orbi can only transmit your existing internet signal, it cannot improve it; however, in the case of your log home’s construction, you may see an improvement in reducing your areas of low or no service. The Orbi system’s tri-band WiFi antenna reaches up to 4,000 square feet through traditional WiFi barriers such as walls, stairs and doors.

If your internet provider is spotty to begin with, it won't strengthen the signal any further than what you currently have. Weather will still be an issue, if that is what is happening in your area, but that is not related to how well the Netgear Orbi should function. I recommend that you call you ISP and have them realign your internet satellite for a stronger signal before purchasing anything like this. Otherwise, the root of the problem will always be there.

You can connect the main router/base unit to your Internet connection, then put the extender "satellite" unit (not to be confused with your satellite Internet) in a more distant location in your home. This would give you a strong WiFi signal around both the base unit and extender unit.

I will make one note: You said you have satellite internet and it is not really strong. This device will *not* help with that. It will only give you a better connection around your home. If you have a bad signal coming in from the satellite, this will not boost or strengthen it. On the other hand, if you have a home network and have difficulty connecting to it from one portion of your home, this should help with that, especially if you have more than one Orbi node set up. Your problem sounds more like a internet service problem than a wifi problem. That being said, when you do have a decent internet feed these would help with giving you a better wifi signal through the logs and other areas blocking your signal. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Orbi uses your existing Internet connection. If that signal is weak, the Orbi will not make up for that. It will benefit the connection between your devices, assuming you have multiple devices - PC/Macs, iPads/Android tablets, etc.
