The ORBI systems are horrible to connect to 2.4ghz devices. Unfortunately most smart switches and plugs are 2.4. Look elsewhere if a Smarthome is your goal - ORBI is more for device connection
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I say NO based upon my experience. I have a new LaCrosse Technology full weather station that needed 2.4. NETHER says you can not break out the 2.4 SSID on the ORBI like you used to be able to on older routers. I had to go get an older router to be able to hook up to 2.4...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I have Smart Home stuff too.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Whether or not your 2.4gHz device will connect to the Orbi system is based solely on how well the app is designed. If your respective app simply copies the network your phone is connected to, you may have problems if you are in "good" coverage, since your phone will use the 5gHz band. The best you can hope for is to try setting up your device with less than stellar WiFi coverage so that your phone resorts to 2.4gHz while you are setting up. I've accomplished this by going outside the house, or by turning down the 5gHz signal strength. My next attempt will be to set up a separate 2.4gHz network under my guest option and use that network for all devices like this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.MAYBE , it depends on the device even if it is just 2.4, . I am sorry for such a late repose but I only found the question after having my own issues. Despite all 2.4 requirement , some worked and some don't. ring: it dose work never have issue august lock: no issue ismart alarm: no issue Canary: MANY ISSUES , it disconnect randomly. I asked canary to figure out what is wrong they said it was orbi's mesh system that is causing it. None of our canary works well. It will randomly disconnect and then back on and then back down. It is hit or miss, we won't be getting rid of orbi probably canary. Orbi is needed in our house because of 4 floors problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have several ring devices including the stick up cam. They all work fine and connected to the 2.4ghz fine. I used to get dropped connections with other wireless routers and so far Orbi has been the best router i’ve ever owned.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will help if you're connecting multiple 2.4 devices at one time because there are a few steps and it would be a pain to keep repeating the steps over and over, but it isn't that difficult. Log into the router as admin. Advanced tab, advanced settings, wireless settings. Uncheck the "broadcast SSID on 5G" box. From this point, everything new connects to 2.4 (other devices currently connected are not affected). If necessary, forget your network on your phone and reconnect. Use the device app to connect your device. Repeat as necessary with other apps and devices. Log back in as admin. Go back to wireless settings. Check off the box. You are back to broadcasting normally and everything is connecting to the appropriate bands.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. It supports multople frequencies.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, according to the specs, it works with both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz products.
