This isn't dependent upon cable, per se. It needs an ethernet coonection. If you can put an RJ-45 (a standard) ethernet cable into the device that brings the internet signal into the house, then you shouldn't have any problems. You just sub your Hughes Satellite modem in for "cable modem" and you should be good to go.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as you have a modem with an Ethernet port for the Orbi Router to connect to, you should be fine. We recommend verifying compatibility with Hughes, however.

The hughes router connects to the wan port of the main netgear unit. Configure and confirm access to internet. If working then add satellite or slave unit by simpñe click of button and look for blue led light from top ring. If the led light is red or pink the satellite is too far from the main unit and needs to be moved closer. Blue is good. Confirm on the main unit that the satellite or slave unit is connected by logging in and viewing network properties ... The connection between units can be up to 1733Mbps. It seems to be working well. Just remember to update firmware on both units .

But as a former satellite user myself, I tend to think Orbi is overkill for what you need. Orbi's value, to me, is that it provides great access with high band width sites. It preserves speed on wireless really, really well, hence its cost. For slower connections, I just don't think it's value is clear. Sure it will maintain speeds for a slower connection, like Hughes, but so will much cheaper devices. Unless satellite has gotten a lot faster since when I used it, this is a good but expensive solution.
