The Netgear Orbi router hooks up to your router from Verizon. The “router” from the rbk50 pack isn’t a cable modem it’s just a hub for the satellite units.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a follow-up to Paul's question. If I have FiOS internet only (no TV or phone), can I connect the ethernet port from the ONT to the orbi's ethernet port?

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You need to use your Verizon hardware in order to keep all of your TV's channel guide features. The key is to use your Orbi system as a bridge that sits on top of your Verizon router (i.e., use it in AP Mode). I did this in my house and it works flawlessly. Do a google search and you will find the step by step instructions for setting this up. Just one word of advice - make sure you have a computer with an RJ45 port. you wil need to connect that computer to your verizon router with an ethernet cable while completing the setup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have Fios tv service you must keep the Verizon gateway hooked up. Turn off the Wifi on the Fios gateway so you dont have the 2 wifi systems interfering with each other. Go on you tube there is a video there showing you how to do this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can either run the Orbi router as an Access Point and leave the wireless radio on your FIOS router turned on, or replace your current router's signal by turning the WiFi radio in it off. Instructions for setting up the Orbi in AP mode are located beginning on page 90 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbk50.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic#docs. To reduce the possibility of signal interference between the two devices, however, we recommend disabling the Wi-Fi on your FIOS router: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31100?cid=wmt_netgear_organic.
