The satellite can be connected to the main unit by either the RF link (the 3rd band) or with an Ethernet cable. In the user manual, this is called "Set Up an Ethernet Backhaul Connection" Personally, I would use Ethernet if you already have the cabling in place.

However, the dedicated band for wireless connectivity gives you the freedom to place the satellite in a more ideal location for signal strength. Try making a "heat map" of the wifi signal using a wifi inspection app. -that will tell you where the dead spots are...
