Need 4 Ethernet ports. null

The Router has 3 LAN Ethernet ports and 1 WAN Ethernet Port. Each Satellite has 4 LAN Ethernet ports.

Please note that the ethernet ports on the satellite take their data traffic over the backhaul network. So any device connected to it via ethernet will have its traffic sent over the wifi network. On the flip side the Orbi base router provides direct ethernet to wan switch ports without the backhaul overhead. In tests the speeds are still very good and reliable from the satellite - not sure for surfing and video that you'll notice... just figured folks looking into this for ethernet ports should be aware.

The Orbi system offers 8 total Ethernet ports: Four (4) 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports on each device - 1 WAN (input from the modem) and 3 LAN (output) on the router and 4 LAN (output) Ethernet ports on the satellite. If you need more than that, you can easily expand the number of Ethernet ports by adding a network switch.

Buy an inexpensive Ethernet switch and plug one port into an available port on the Orbi.

Unfortunately this device only has 3. However you can easily connect a cheap switch.

There are only 3 Ethernet ports on the main router. I needed 4 as well but made a sacrifice.

Both the Router and Satellite each have three (3) Ethernet ports. If it is possible for you to move your device to another location you can simply plug it into the Satellite. I have noticed no differences in speed or efficiency for the devices I have plugged in my Orbi router or satellite. If you cannot change locations you could possibly purchase a switch to plug-in to the router/satellite to add more ports. If you are having Wi-FI speed or coverage issues this product will not disappoint and as such I would say it is worth an additional cost (switch) to make it work for you needed application.

Base unit has 3 free Gigabit ports, satellite unit has 4 GB ports free.

There are four ethernet ports on the Orbi satellite and three ethernet ports on the Orbi router, so a total of seven ethernet ports are available for use. I hope this helps!
