The Nighthawk does not have mesh technology, but you can use it as an Access Point to connect to your Orbi Router/Satellites. It will allow you to create a new SSID name with your nighthawk.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi is its own wireless router with satellites. It will make the Nighthawk redundant. The cable modem router will connect directly to the Orbi. If the cable modem router also has its own wifi, best disable it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but you will have to disable the router part of your Nighthawk. You'll have to login to your router's website, go to "Advance" then to "Administrator" then set Router Mode to "no". Here is a link to that process. https://kb.netgear.com/27191/How-to-set-the-cable-modem-router-to-be-on-modem-only
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but it is it’s own SSID. I am sure there would be a way to include the WiFi from the nighthawk, but it’s probably a complicated process. I am using a cable modem connected to the nighthawk s8000 - which is my wired router. I connect from my nighthawk to the orbi mesh system for my WiFi. I have it disabled from my xfinity cable modem and only use the orbis. This setup is great. I use the nighthawk to connect my desktop and Xbox, the orbis are my WiFi which connects basically everything else. There are 6 people who all have multiple wireless devices. Also, there are six smart TVs connected. So, the usage of WiFi should be pretty stressed, but the orbis have yet to show any signs of trouble handling the bamdwidth required to serve everyone. So, yes, it is a good set up and I definitely recommend it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We would recommend placing the Orbi router in Access Point mode if you'd like to maintain your current device. (Note: The Orbi router will still require a direct Ethernet connection to your home's modem.) Instructions for setting up the Orbi in AP mode are located beginning on page 90 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbk50.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic#docs
