While no router can improve your existing signal from your ISP, you do have the option of replacing (turning off) your WiFi/router signal from your combination device and strictly running the Orbi signal (recommended) or running the Orbi alongside it in Access Point mode. If the issue with your connections is your existing router, you may notice an improvement across all connected devices by replacing it with the Orbi router's signal. Instructions for setting up the Orbi in AP mode are located beginning on page 83 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBK50#docs
