It should work with Nighthawk and other WiFi 6 systems in extender mode. It just won’t work with Orbi WiFi 6 systems. I use it in extender Mode outside of my Orbi WiFi 6 system on a separate network not used by the Orbi WiFi 6 system and it works great.
