You have to connect one unit to modem via wire and the other would have to be connected to TV if their is a place to connect. No sure if smart TVs have that connection but may. Its the same cord on both ends that you connect your modem to main computer etc.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would think so as long as the outlet is on the same side of your circuit breaker panel. These NetGear devices have an internal circuit detector. I have all 3 TV’s hard wired through these. Since installation no buffering issues.
