If I understand your question correctly, I think you are asking whether you can use this router for both local connection and still have wifi at the same time, am I right? If so then yes. What you need is an ethernet cable to connect the router to your modem. Then you need another ethernet cable to connect your router to the laptop/computer. If you have already set up your wifi, it will still function. Your locally connected computer will enjoy faster internet speed, while other devices connected to the wifi will be a little slower.

As long as your computer and the chrome cast are on the same network you'll be able to send your computer to the chrome cast. You will need the chrome cast extension on your computer to do that though.
