“My wifi is in my 1/2 basement will it work to get signal to my detached garage about 50' away”

• Exactly the same reason I bought my NETGEAR - Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender. I have a workshop in my garage, which is about 75' from my router in the basement. After the initial setup, I located the extender about mid way between the router and my shop. Works fine.
