Depends on placement however mine worked 50 feet into the backyard

I can't say what the max distance would be, but I can describe how I'm using the device. My modem/router is about 50' unobstructed to a metal camper and metal utility trailer. There are laptops in each. The problem was in the utility trailer. The door of the trailer faced away from the router, so I used this device about 45' from the router, with antennas toward the door of utility trailer. Worked great. Now have good strong wifi signal for those laptops. (I use the utility trailer as an office.)

It is installed about 50 feet from the router.

I'm 45' from the extender through two walls and the signal strength is still showing the max.
