I have one of these and I just had to try it out in different places and see where it worked best. I don’t think you can know until you move it around and try it. I bought mine to work with a Roku TV and found that it works great in an outlet directly under the TV. If your house is large I would think you’d need one on each floor but it just depends on many factors like the size of your house, how fast your internet is, if you’re streaming or gaming, etc.
