• Yes it will work there. And yes the area needs be ventilated, (a slightly open door or window) but garages are not usually airtight so it should be fine.

• You can use it in your garage and there is no venting required. This is not as powerful as an air conditioning unit but more like a fan that can bring the air temperature down about 10 degrees.
