“If this is a ceiling mount heater, won't all of the heat stay up at the ceiling, even with the forced air? I'm not sure how effective it can be at heating down lower, where people and pets are walking around.”

All warm/heated air rises. Rooms heat from the top down. If you are in the direct path of the fan blown heated air you will warm up faster but you must be very close to the heat source and stay there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes hot air raises, but it's no different than a two story house with the registers in the ceiling, it still heats the second floor. I have a different brand mounted on the wall of my garage about 7.5 foot high, it does a really good job heating my double garage. But I paid a lot more for the one I have, this is a good deal. You can mount on the ceiling or on the wall at any height you prefer.
