I would say it isn't necessary, but we have a couple floor fans in the room we have these down in for general air circulation. It's a large room, but it gets sun all day in Arizona...fans are mandatory here. If you live in a very humid area or it will be in an area that will experience it potentially...Murphy's Law says "Better Safe Than Sorry".
