• Yes. Is how I use it. Bought 1 from Amazon and this one. This one was better and got 2nd set for full area under body and use other brand one for under equipment instead.

• It is soft, but the pieces separate easily. I would not suggest that you use them as a yoga mat, unless you do not mind having to put the pieces back together once in awhile. My exercise bike sits flat on top of each piece, so I did not bother returning them. Also, the corners only face one direction. So, if you want to have a "perfect square", I suggest you get a different brand.
