Nextbase's answer was not consistent with their user manual which states: - Do not leave the device exposed to a heat source or in a high-temperature location, such as in the sun or in an unattended vehicle. To prevent the possibility of damage, remove the Dash Cam from the vehicle or store it out of direct sunlight, such as in the glove box. - Do not operate the Dash Cam outside of the following temperature range: from -20° to 45°C (from -4° to 113°F).

I would be happy with a suction cup like I have for my Escort Radar Detector. How can Nextbase brag about their parking feature and then tell us to unplug it when we park? That makes no sense.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the mount uses (very) strong magnets to hold it in place and it pops off with a little effort - I take it out every time I park. I am currently using the suction cup mount which probably wouldn't be the best in high heat, but the permanent tape mount should be fine. It's a great quality camera and the software is solid and well-designed.

The camera was very hot to the touch and could not shut it off until it was unplugged from the car and held the power button for a good minute. If you don't mind re-adjusting the camera every time you get in the car you could take it out. The other issue is that if you have the vehicle parked in these temps and don't drive often you will come out to a dead battery. I tried a decent car cover and it seems to help. The heavier the cover the better.

Please try again later.Hello, All of our cameras are tested between -20'C (-4F) to +50'C (122'F), although if the car temperature exceeds this you could potentially experience issues. We'd recommend removing the Dash Cam and placing in the glove compartment when the Dash Cam is not in use to prevent it being unnecessarily heated on the windscreen. Under the mount is a heat sync, so this is the part of the camera that will get hottest. It's nothing to worry about, they're designed to cope with the heat they produce. You can easily remove the camera from the car by taking it off the magnetic mount and unplugging the cable from the jack near the rear window. It beats Nexar by a mile in many ways. Omly problem is it has no sound. Ipgrading to a new Apeman this year. My current one is 3 years old.
