Hello, Great question. We don’t recommend powering the camera via USB, as USB ports may not provide sufficient power and can lead to performance issues. The camera is designed to be powered using the included cigarette lighter power cable. If the location of the port isn’t convenient, you can alternatively use our hardwire kit, which is available for purchase separately and provides a cleaner, more permanent installation. -The Nextbase Reviews Team
