Hello, We recommend powering the dashcam using the 12V cigarette lighter power cable provided, or using the Nextbase Hard Wire Kit. We recommend plugging this into a 12V 2 to 20amp supply. 20amp is the maximum recommended supply. As long as your portable charger provides the recommend supply, this can be used. Unfortunately most hand-held portable chargers do not provide 12V 2 amp power. The recommend usage of this dashcam is within your vehicle, connected to the cigarette lighter socket or directly to the car's fuses.
