Hello Jeannine, Yes, when the camera is connected using the hardwire kit, it will remain in alert mode and can power on if it detects impact while the vehicle is parked. The hardwire kit is designed to protect your car’s battery. It continuously monitors the vehicle’s voltage and will automatically cut power to the dash cam if the battery voltage drops to approximately 12.6V. This prevents the camera from draining the battery beyond a safe level. While the camera does draw a small amount of power when parked, it should not significantly drain your car’s battery thanks to this built-in voltage protection. -The Nextbase Reviews Team
