This is a 1080p camera. I don't know if there is a 4K version in the works.  The image from this camera shows up as a picture-in-picture on your front facing camera.

The resolution depends on which Nextbase camera is it plugged into, I'll specify below: 
322GW: 720p@30FPS
422GW: 720p@30FPS or 1080p@30FPS depending on the front camera's resolution. 
522GW: 720p@30FPS or 1080p@30FPS depending on the front camera's resolution. 
622GW: 1080p@30 FPS

A 4K rear camera is not in design for these dashcams, but I will pass on your feedback to the Nextbase Development Team.
