Thank you for the questions and happy to help as you evaluate systems. 1- You have the option to run continuous recording or just event based recording. 2- You can save events as long as you'd like to but we advise using a USB flash drive to export important events for safe keeping separately. 3- Brick and other dense materials can impede signal strength so we advise placing the recorder in a location unimpeded by those materials when possible. Individual experiences may vary depending on Wi-Fi ability to link to devices. Extenders can work but we cannot guarantee they will. Night Owl SP Digital Support Team
