- Answer Hi there, Thanks for reaching out! Your Night Owl 12 Channel 8 Camera Wired 2K 1TB DVR Security System with 2-Way Audio supports up to 12 total channels—8 wired cameras and 4 Wi-Fi IP cameras (sold separately). Here’s how to get everything hooked up: Connect Wired Cameras to the DVR: Use the included BNC cables to connect each of the 8 wired cameras to the numbered ports on the back of the DVR (Channels 1–8). Each cable includes connectors for video and power. Power the Cameras: Plug the power connectors into the splitter and use the included adapter to power all cameras from a single outlet. Connect the DVR to a TV or Monitor: Use an HDMI (or VGA) cable to connect your DVR to a display. Make sure your TV is set to the correct input. Connect to Your Router: Use an Ethernet cable to connect the DVR to your internet router. This enables remote viewing through the Night Owl app. Power On the DVR: Plug in the DVR and follow the setup wizard using the included USB mouse. Adding Wi-Fi Cameras (optional): You can add up to 4 compatible Night Owl Wi-Fi IP cameras via the Night Owl Protect app or system interface to fill channels 9–12. 2-Way Audio: To use 2-way audio, connect compatible audio cameras to supported channels and use the Night Owl app to talk and listen. QuestionSome earlier DVR's have only one or two dedicated channels with audio. Do all 12 channels within this DVR utilize audio and are all 8 cameras in this package equipped with 2 way audio microphones? Thank you.

- Answer Thank you for the question and happy to help. Our systems fully include audio capability and 2 way audio if advertised with the feature. Of note with this system is that 8 cameras are wired with 2 way audio and you have 4 channels that you can add via Wi-Fi compatible cameras. QuestionI do NOT have a smartphone. I do have a laptop with windows 10, a router for internet connectivity, and a TV set. I am looking to set up 3 security cameras indoors. Can I set this system up with no smartphone? You have other systems that will work here?

- Answer Thank you for the question and happy to help. Yes, with this wired system you are able to setup without a mobile device. Bluetooth is to leverage the mobile app and assist with setup but it is not required. You can also hook up the recorder directly to your TV if there is HDMI input. QuestionSome of my IR cameras don't work, I've installed 5 cameras, 4 of them the IR don't work. They have less than 10 months installed. How can I do to fix the issue?

QuestionCan I combine 1 way camera with a 2 way cameras.? I already have a 1 way nigh owl cameras which is working perfectly for me. However, am thinking of just buying only the 2 way cameras to add to it so that I can hear the sound. How does that work?

It is difficult to ensure compatibility without specific model info but in general if you have a new recorder with 2-way audio, you are welcome to add compatible cameras without 2-way audio. They just don't have the ability to provide 2-way audio functionality, but will still record. The tech is on both sides, recorder and camera. Hope this helps.
