“Do you need to have wifi to use this system? I'm unclear if the camera connects to the DVR system through wifi or some other technology.”

• You have 2 options. 1) To record to the base, it will connect without wifi and the base is connected to your internet by connecting a wire to your internet router. 2) The camera itself has the option of putting a memory card in it and connects to your wifi and will run by itself. This option would record to the camera and not the base (thus not using the base at all in this case.)
