Yes, this system will immediately begin recording when motion is detected. The indoor 1080p camera has 2-way audio with talk and listen capability. However, the gateway has a microSD card slot for you to install a microSD card for recording. There will not be as much storage space as you would have with a DVR or NVR that has a hard drive.
