It does loop back and record over older videos but this is pretty standard with recording devices of most kinds. It does have options or settings for what it should do once storage is full.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.By default, our DVR/NVRs are set to auto-overwrite when the HDD becomes full. This means the system will start recording over older footage to accommodate new recordings. You can deselect this option from within the Main Menu. Note, without this option selected, your product will stop recording when the HDD becomes full. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the use of the hard drive space will just "wrap around" when it reaches the end. You can swap out the hard drive for a larger one if you need access to older recordings than your current drive will hold. You should be able to find the spec's for the hard drive on the Night Owl tech support site or you can always use their chat line to actually ask a person for the spec's of the drive interface. I don't remember what version of SATA the DVR supports.
