• Good Afternoon, Yes, you can replace the BNC cabling with Ethernet (CAT 5 / CAT 6) cabling by purchasing a BNC to POE Video Balun. We sell them on our Night Owl website, should you be unable to find them at Best Buy. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

• I have no idea what a cat 5 cable is. But you will need the right cable to go to dvr. The adapters are for adding cables for additional footage. I would use Nite Owl cables that came with the system. This other cable may distort the clarity of the picture.

• This system actually has an Ethernet port built in so there is no adapter needed I have a cat 6 cable hooked up on my system which I'm pretty sure has a faster transfer rate than cat 5 Good luck and don't be shy if your serious about it buy it, super clean quality with the video
