A:AnswerCameras connect to base dvr/nvr wirelessly. They do require a wired power source. A 12v wall-wart with 9ft cord is included with each camera.
The base has it's own wifi that the cameras use, they do not use your home's wifi. . The base needs a wired ethernet connection to the internet.
A:AnswerI’ve had no issues with loss of any camera or overload on bandwidth. I keep my on motion detection instead of continuous recording. Saves data and storage space but you can still monitor it in live mode. I haven’t had any issues.
A:AnswerFor the most part, yes. However, if you ever want to expand beyond 4 cameras you won't be able to with the 4 camera system since it only supports 4 total channels. I needed a 6 camera system and had to go with the 8 camera product since I couldn't expand the 4 camera version. All of the other specifications seem to be identical. One item to note, it uses its own wireless network not your home wireless network so placement of the DVR unit is very important to ensure you can receive a signal from all of your cameras. I'm still having an issue within one of my cameras not always showing up.
A:AnswerWith our wireless NVR, the cameras wirelessly connect to the NVR's built-in Wi-Fi. This will enable you to locally access your system from a TV/monitor using the included HDMI cable. Internet in only required for remote viewing. To access your Wireless NVR system from a Smart Device, PC or Mac, you will need to hardwire your unit to your router using the included Ethernet cable. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
A:AnswerThis system is all color (video). Only black and white is the night vision. If your talking about the color of the camera bodies, I haven't seen any upgrades for color change.
A:AnswerNo to both. The mounting bracket needs to be secured to a surface, usually wall or ceiling. It cannot be used as a stand. Also, the Night Vision will not work through windows and there will be a red glare at night when the cameras enter Night Vision. Thank you.
A:AnswerNo you won't need a electrician..my husband did everything himself. He did everything in about 2 days.....but he is 79 years old and wasn't in any hurry to get it done. Hiring the guys from Best Buy's would be much faster but it is also very expensive. Hope this helps!
A:AnswerOnce you check each camera and install, it automatically pics up the cameras through WiFi at the box. Install takes the longest. We did two houses with 2 people on one system in a day.
It shouldn’t take too long if you have a little help to install and position the cameras. I would recommend downloading the nightowlx app before trying to adjust angles etc so you can monitor it on your phone instead if running back and forth to the tv
A:AnswerEach camera comes with a 9 ft. camera power adapter and must be connected to an outlet. This is an AC Powered Wireless system, not battery powered. This way, you do not have to worry about changing or recharging batteries. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
A:AnswerYes, your system is expandable! You system has 8 channels and can hold up to 8 total cameras. For questions regarding compatibility, please refer to our sales site at www.NightOwlSP.com, email [email protected] or call 1-866-979-0580. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

A:AnswerNo it is not. Don’t waste your time with this product. Wireless is garbage simply because they do not sell the DVR’s as a standalone unit. If yours goes and it is not under warranty, you have to buy another complete bundle.

A:AnswerThe NVR has built-in Wi-Fi, which is how it communicates with the cameras. Internet is only needed for remote viewing. To remotely view, you would need to hardwire the NVR to a working network access point (such as a router) using the provided Ethernet cable. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
