I would get the Nikon 35mm 1.8..it has built in AF motor that you need with d3500. Also with crop sensor 35mm is closer to 50mm results while 50mm on crop sensor is closer to 70mm results I believe if that makes any sense...crop sensor multiplies focal length by 1.5 for Nikon
