Is it compatible with the D5000? null

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm lens is 100% compatible with the D5000. For your future reference, the D5000 does not contain a focus motor. It requires lenses, if you intent to use autofocus, that have a built-in focus motor. Nikon denotes these lenses with an AF-S for our Silent Wave Autofocus Motor.
