It goes down to 18 so it already is a wide angle, unless you want to go lower to a 'fisheye' type .They run about $200-$300 depending on f stop selected.

This means that you need to mentally multiply the zoom by about a factor of 1.5. So, at an 18mm zoom setting, you'd get about the equivalent of an image from a 27mm lens on a traditional film camera. That's slightly wider then a 50mm "normal-eye" lens. It's wide enough for good travel/landscape imagry but it's not really a super wide lens.
