While the 24mm lens is great for landscapes and general street photography, because you would need to get closer to your subject with this lens - and the wider angle may distort features - in general - you would do much better with a 50mm f/1.8. Check out Best Buy for that lens, as they do carry it in store and online. Regarding low light, because of the faster aperture on the 24mm and the 50mm, they will both function quite well in lower light situations.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The lens is excellent in low light. Great for sunrises and sunsets. For portraits, I'd recommend a little longer prime lens, like the 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm. These will give you less distortion than the 24mm "wide angle" lens.
