Is this lens compatible with the Nikon D3500? null

Yes. I have the D3400 and it fits perfectly. (The D3400 and D3500 accept the same accessories and lenses.)

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G lens is compatible with the Nikon D3500 DSLR camera, however, focus will have to be manually adjusted as this camera model does not have a built-in focus motor. For lenses that will autofocus with the Nikon D3500 camera look into AF-S or AF-P type lenses.
