Yes, i use this lens with my Nikon d5500 and it works well. But the equivalent of this would be 75mm as this is an FX lens and d5500 is a DX format (might be hard when you use it in small spaces due to the crop factor). Nikkor 35mm f1.8 us available as well and that is already a DX format so you might want to consider that as well :)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should work fine; I've used it on several bodies including a D80, a D300, and a D3. On the D3, which is full frame, there's a little vignetting but it's not bad. As to the 35mm f1.8, Nikon does make one and that's a pretty great lens as well. I've also used that lens on all three of my Nikon bodies.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Standard Lens is completely compatible with the Nikon D5500 and will help you capture amazing bokeh shots, landscapes, portraits and more. For a 35mm lens look into the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Standard lens, which is compatible with this camera body and optimized for use with DX-format cameras.
