Yes, you can use DX lenses on your D810. Be aware though, that the outside of the picture will cropped from FX size to DX size, but it works fine. The reason the image is cropped is that a DX lens will project a small image onto the sensor compared to an FX lens. The D810 automatically detects DX lenses and does the cropping for you. When you look through the viewfinder of the D810, you'll see an outline showing you where the cropping will happen.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens is a full frame or FX format lens which can be used on the D810 without any cropping. DX format lenses will have "DX" in their name and on the lens barrel. DX can be used on full frame (FX) cameras like the D810 but are optimized for use on DSLRs with the smaller DX sensor. A DX lens does not transmit enough light to fill the entire FX sensor. Because of this the D810 will automatically will switch over to DX Crop Mode. In DX crop mode the D810’s largest available Image Size is reduced to 4800x3200 pixels. When an FX lens like this AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens is used on the D810 the largest available Image Size is 7360 x 4912 pixels.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is OK to use a DX lens on the 810, just don't let anyone see that you are. The DX is a cropped down image sensor and your beautiful 810 has a Full Frame sensor giving you approximately 35-40% more image. Only FX lenses will utilize the full frame capabilities of the 810. I recommend FX Fixed Prime lenses only.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can techinacslly use it but because you are using a full frame camera because of the ex lens the picture will be cropped out as it is designed for a dx camera.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no, I don't recommend it. Invest in proper FX lens gear for your camera.
