Both the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G and the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G are lightweight lenses that provide vividly-sharp videos and images with a bokeh effect. Some differences to note are the minimum aperture and minimum focus distance they each offer. The 35mm f/1.8G lens allows .98 feet for minimum focus distance and the 50mm f/1.8G lens lets you have 1.48 feet. Minimum aperture on the AF-S 35mm is f/22 while the AF-S 50mm minimum aperture is f/16. Either lens would be a great addition to your growing camera bag and help you on your vlogging journey. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bought this lens for vlogging, wish I would have gotten the 35. I’m using a D5100.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would go with 35mm for a dx camera. 50mm might be too tight of a shot for you. It’s equivalent to 70-75mm lens.35mm will give you a wider shot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would by both and test. Depending how close your camera is to you, probably the 35mm will work best due to 50mm is prettt close up if you are going to have the camera less than 10 feet from you
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For vlogging, I would probably say the 35mm. Only because with the 50mm, when you're recording yourself, you'll probably look like you're way too close. But what helped me decide was watching YouTube videos comparing both. So hopefully that can help you as well.
