“I want to move up to a better lens for my D3000. I purchased a D3000 camera package with a AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED lens. It takes great outdoor action photos of softball games. I want to get another lens for closer closeups. Any suggestions?”

The only option that is reasonably priced is the Nikon 55-300mm VR lens. Nikon does make an 80-400 lens that is much larger and cost about 4 times as much. Both have built in AF-S motors and will work with your camera.
