Glare can come from scratches, dust or dirt on the lens. A lens hood would help in some cases, but the Nikon P530 does not accept any filters or hoods (not threaded). However - There is very good functioning D-Lighting mode for brightly lit backgrounds (see menu in several modes). Read the manual

Just a little. Depends on where the sun is in relationship to where you are taking the picture from. These 2 photos are the worst I've ever done into the sun.

Aiming a camera lens directly into the sun will always cause lens flare to some degree. If you adjust your angle, using the camera's LCD for composition and to review the level of flare, you can get great pictures.
